Obituary for Arden L. DeVore

Arden L.  DeVore
Arden L. DeVore, 96, of Meadville, passed away, Monday, June 12, 2017 at his residence. He was born on June 17, 1920 in Meadville a son of Royal R. DeVore and Hazel Mosier DeVore. He married Isabella Manuel on April 30, 1938. She preceded him in passing on April 8, 2006.

Arden was a World War II Veteran serving with the US Navy on the USS Pasadena. During his time in the Navy he received 9 Bronze Stars, 1 Silver Star, and was Honor Man Welter Weight Boxing Champion.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing; he was involved in organized baseball for 21 years and helped little league baseball in the Meadville area and managed American Legion Baseball.

Arden was employed with American Viscose Corporation for 45 years working as a foreman and production operator in building 4. He retired in 1982.

He was a member of Saint Brigid Roman Catholic Church.

Arden is survived by a daughter, Mona Lee Pero and her husband Patsy of Meadville; two sons, Robert Raymond DeVore of Meadville and Timothy Scott DeVore and his wife Mae of Meadville; ten grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.

In addition to his loving wife, Isabella he was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Arden Richard Devore on May 16, 2003; and four brothers.

Family and friends are welcome to call on Thursday, June 15th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville. A prayer vigil service will be held at 7:45pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 16th at 10:00am at Saint Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water Street, Meadville with Father Tom Trocchio, pastor, as celebrant.

Burial will follow at Greendale Cemetery, Meadville.
