TOWNVILLE — Dorothy Evelyn Naylor Steadman, 83, beloved wife of the late Ross F. Steadman resident of Townville, passed away peacefully on Friday October 14, 2016, at Wesbury in Meadville Pa. Dorothy was born in Headington, Oxford, England December 3rd, 1933, the daughter of the late Bertie Douglas Naylor and Eleanor Bushnell Naylor.

Dorothy was a post war bride traveling to the United States from her beloved homeland on the Queen Mary in 1952. She married the love of her life, Ross F. Steadman on July 25, 1953, in Corry Pa. Dorothy worked for many years at Mason’s Department Store and later at the Mead Nursing Home, both in Meadville. Upon retirement, Dorothy cared for many children in her home from the Townville area as well as her grandchildren, who she loved having each and every summer.

Dorothy was a life-long member of the Townville United Methodist Church where she enjoyed attending services and participating in the functions and activities of the United Methodist Women’s Auxiliary. Dorothy was also a member of the Townville Volunteer Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary where she enjoyed preparing for dinners, making cookies for bake sales and participating in the Townville Old Home Days festivities. She was also a member of the Townville Senior Citizens and the Pierian Women’s Club. Dorothy loved to travel, especially to her homeland and to visit her grandchildren in Maryland. She was an excellent cook, best known for her delicious casseroles, salads and the dozens of cookies that she made for her neighbors and family at Christmas.

Dorothy is survived by her two children, Ross Douglas Steadman of Townville; Janet Lynn Steadman Dixon and her husband, John of Prince Frederick Md.; granddaughter Samantha Jo Dixon Bullock, and her husband Justin of Frederick Md.; grandson Douglas John Dixon of Prince Frederick, Md.; great-granddaughter Collins Jolene Bullock, three step granddaughter’s, Ashley Fedora Sapp, Suzanne Dixon Marlatt and Traci Dixon Drake; sister-in-law’s Barbara Naylor of Headington England; Charlotte Steadman Kirk and her husband, Paul, of Cambridge Springs Pa. and Deloris Barton Steadman of Corry Pa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her beloved husband Ross and her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her sister, Sylvia Naylor Cox and two brothers, Victor Bushnell and Cyril Naylor.

Friends and family may call at the Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home, and Cremation Services Inc., 33353 N. main Street, Townville, PA 16360, Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 1:00 P.M. until 2:30 P.M. and Monday, October 17, 2016 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at 12:00 P.M., at the funeral home, with the Reverend Frank Weingard officiating. Interment will follow at the Kingsley Cemetery in Townville where Dorothy will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Ross.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 2115 W 38th St, Erie, PA 16508, or to the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, Meadville, PA 16335.
