Obituary for Charles Oliver Shorey Sr.

Charles Oliver  Shorey Sr.
Charles Julian Oliver Shorey, 84, of Meadville, passed away, Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community. He was born on April 16, 1931 in Bath, Maine a son of Charles Julian Oliver and Evelyn Shorey; he was later adopted by George Shorey as his father. He married Patricia Bartlett on August 17, 1954. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2011.

He was a graduate of Old Orchard Beach High School in Maine and served his country during the Korean Conflict with the United States Marines.

Charles was employed with Mason's Department Store in Meadville where he was the store manager for many years.

He was a former Freemason, a member of the Eagles, Elks, and the Sertoma Club.

Charles enjoyed watching birds, taking care of the flowers in his garden, fireworks, and spending time walking in the woods.

He is survived by son, Charles Shorey Jr. of Meadville, Pa., daughter, Jenneth Lemley of Huntington, W.Va., son, Brian Shorey and his wife Desiree of Meadville, Pa., daughter, Linda Shope and her husband Douglas of Saegertown, Pa., son, Michael Shorey and his wife Marlene of North Carolina, son, Dana Shorey and his wife Keica of Meadville, Pa.; grandchildren, Chad Lemley, Brad Lemley, Jarod Lemley, Brett Lemley, Nicholette White, Brian Shorey Jr., Heather Butler, Erika Masters, Amy Jo Shorey, Jake Shorey, Megan Skehan, and McKenna Shorey; many great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Caroline Wells and her husband Robert of Florida and Diane Girard of Maine.

In addition to his loving wife Patricia he was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Garrett Shope; a son in law, Charles Lemley; three sisters, Lois, Jean, and Joan; and a brother, Richard.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
