Obituary for Robert W. Hope
Robert W. Hope, 89, of Blooming Valley, passed away, Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Crawford County Care Center. He was born on April 10, 1926 in Michigan, a son of Harry Hope and Josephine Lippert Hope. He married Shirley Riddle on December 10, 1960. She survives.
He served his country during World War II with the United States Army under General George Patton in the 5th Infantry Division. He saw combat in Germany and Luxembourg.
Robert was employed for 36 years by Penelec as a Lineman.
He was a member of Saint Hippolyte Roman Catholic Church, Meadville Elks Club Lodge #219, West Mead 2, VFW Post 2006, and played fast pitch softball for Kebert's as a pitcher. After retirement he did woodworking and made beautiful gun cabinets.
Robert was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time at his hunting camp in Scandia with family and friends.
In addition to his loving wife, Shirley Hope of Blooming Valley; he is survived by three sons, Gregory Scott Hope and his wife Susan of Carlisle, Gary David Hope and his wife Connie of Saegertown, and Mark James Hope of Meadville; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; and a brother, F. Thomas Hope of Meadville.
He was preceded in death by his mother; father, brothers Harry and James and a sister Annette.
Family and friends are welcome to call on Friday, October 30th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville. There will be a prayer service at 6:45pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 31st at 11:00am at Saint Hippolyte Roman Catholic Church, 25997 Highway 27, Guys Mills, with Father Daniel Prez, pastor, as celebrant.
Burial will follow in Saint Hippolyte Cemetery.
