Obituary for Robert N. LaCaze

Robert N.  LaCaze
TOWNVILLE - Robert N. LaCaze, 70 of Townville, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Meadville Medical Center after a long battle of cancer. Bob was born on, November 25, 1944 in Pleasantville, PA to the late, Charles W. and Dorritt Knight LaCaze. 



He served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp from 1963-1967 and bravely fought in the Vietnam War as an Engineer Equipment and Diesel Mechanic. Throughout his service he was awarded the Rifle Expert Badge, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, and Vietnamese Service Medal **. Post military, Bob worked as a millwright at Cytemp-Cyclops in Titusville. Other employment positions included mold-maker/pourer at Zurns Industry, Machine repairman at Oil City Glass Plant, machinist at General Electric, railroad car unloader at 84 Lumber, maintenance supervisor at Holiday Inn Express, and maintenance at StarLite Diversified. Bob was an avid hunter, fisherman, and lifetime member of the NRA and VFW Post 5958. He loved shooting guns with friends, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bob enjoyed reading the paper and completing the crossword puzzles every morning. He and his wife Joni formerly owned and operated the Town and Country Bakery in Townville for several years.



Survivors include his beloved wife, Joni LaCaze, of Townville; his daughter Cheryl Mitcham and her husband Ron Jr. of Centerville; two sons, Bob LaCaze and his wife Erin, of Ohio; and Shaun LaCaze of Ohio; two stepdaughters, Catherine Beers of AZ; and Carolyn Beers Brown of Meadville; four stepsons, Sam Phillips and wife Susan of VA; Henry Phillips and wife Gaye of Centerville; Larry Phillips and wife Lisa of Spartansburg; and John Beers II and wife Heather, of Meadville; 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; two sisters, Dodie Culp and her husband Richard of Tryonville; Allie Becker of TX; his brother Bill LaCaze of TX; a sister in-law Kathy (Charles) LaCaze of Warren, several nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as Geraldine LaCaze, a prior spouse.

In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his first wife Arwilda Cousins, his niece Sarah Culp, and his brother Charlie LaCaze.



A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Bob requested that donations be made to the Kanzius Cancer Research Center, 130 W 8th St, Erie, PA 16501.
